This year our young people have designed the PGL event themselves by engaging in consultations with the team. The trip will be spread over 3 nights and 4 days in mid-August and will include rock climbing, quad biking, archery, raft-building, tunnel trails, giant swings and zip wires. As before, the trip is open to young people who are fostered but is also open to ‘birth children’ of parents who foster children.
“One of the great by-products of the trips we undertake with the young people is that they almost always make lasting friendships; often with other young people who themselves live in foster care,” commented Rob Johnson, Support Service Manager at Family Care Fostering.
“What we see each year is that young people take on new challenges and experience team building, relationship building and this enhances their communication skills. The PGL trips encourage independence and appropriate risk taking. Since we’ve been running this event, I’ve seen children’s confidence grow alongside their peers and they gain a real sense of achievement at PGL."
Rob will be joined by Jess, Ruth and Dave from the Fostering Teams in Wolverhampton and Preston.
