Most Anticipated Kids Movies of 2019

April 5, 2019 | matt

With half term and Easter almost upon us and the school summer holidays not too far away, you may be thinking about what to do with your little ones over the next few months.  Flick on for 5 of our favourite kids movies coming to a screen near you.

Most anticipated kids movies of 2019

The weather is getting warmer and more sunny days are hopefully around the corner, but this is Britain, we know you can’t rely on the weather!  Here are some of the best kids’ movies and trailers that Family Care are most looking forward to this year.

Toy Story 4

Where better to start than everyone’s favourite animation smash?  Back for its 4th and final instalment, Toy story 4 hits UK cinema screens in June.

Not much is known about the plot of Toy Story 4, but the most recent trailer shows the Disney/Pixar movie's new character ‘Forky’ on a road trip with Woody and the gang as Bonnie heads off in a motorhome with her family.

Whereas Toy Story 3 was the end of Andy's story, Toy Story 4 looks to give us a resolution to Woody's animated adventure.

Lion King

Hot off the press, the latest trailer for Disney's 2019 ‘The Lion King’ remake landed just this week!

Following on from the success of the 2016 live action adaptation of The Jungle Book and 2017’s Beauty and the Beast, a visually similar remake of The Lion King is set to be released in July this year.

The film's most recent trailer leans heavily on references to the original classic, but now we get to hear a few of the characters speak for the first time - see Timon and Pumba strutting their stuff.

Whilst everyone loves the soundtrack from the original Lion King film, the latest version is only set to feature four songs from the original movie: Can You Feel The Love Tonight, Hakuna Matata, I Just Can’t Wait to Be King and Circle of Life.

Hakuna Matata!

Pokémon: Detective Pikachu

Ideal if you have teenagers, the first ever live version of the 90’s cartoon smash hits our screens this May with fan favourite Ryan Reynolds as Pikachu.

Detective Pikachu is based on a Nintendo 3DS game of the same name and follows a boy named Tim and a smart-talking Pikachu as they try to solve the mystery of Tim’s missing Dad. The pair face a batch of rogue Pokémon, an underground fighting ring and a plot that threatens their whole universe…

Another Disney classic remake, and the first one of our mentioned Disney films to be released this year, hitting cinema screens next month.

Relive the magic of Agrabah as the film brings us Aladdin, Jasmine and the Genie on their quest to defeat the evil Jafar.  This modern-day version of the 1992 classic promises to be one of the family movie greats of 2019.

Look out for Will Smith as the genie.

The Secret Life of Pets 2

Got pets?  Then, you probably enjoyed the first instalment of The Secret Life of Pets and you’re probably just as excited as we are to see the sequel.

Max, Chloe and the rest of the gang are back and ready to pull off plenty more mayhem, just like the first film.

The Secret Life of Pets 2 hits cinema screens towards the end of May.

So there you have it.  These upcoming releases are surely enough inspiration for you to take the kids to the cinema regardless of the weather!
