Foster Carers speak out!

May 25, 2018 | matt

Fostering changes lives, not just for the children and young people in our care but also for our foster carers.  The role is varied depending on the needs of the child, but is hugley rewarding for those who wish to give something back by supporting a child in need.

Watch the video below to hear from one of our North West foster carers Jen on her experiences of the role.  Jen has been fostering with Family Care since 2014 and looked after around 20 children during that time.

Fostering is a rewarding, yet challenging role where every day is different.  At present, over 8,000 foster carers are needed to support vulnerable children and young people over the coming year.  Kevin Williams, CEO of the Fostering Network has said;

"Across the UK a child comes into care in need of a foster family every 20 minutes, and thousands of foster families are willing to open their hearts and homes to these children, often offering them their first experience of a stable, secure and caring home."

"Looking after fostered children, many of whom who have experienced trauma, abuse or neglect, can be challenging. But it is that challenge, along with the reward of seeing these children and young people flourish, that many foster carers say makes them proud to foster." (

 New research undertaken by YouGov for Coram has revealed that around 11 million adults (22%) would consider becoming a foster carer.  Could you foster a child?  If you think you could #givesomethingback then enquire about fostering today and disocver the world of difference you can make.
