Set in the heartland of rural Shropshire near Wem, Access School has made a name for itself as a vibrant, pro-active and continually improving school with a dedication to setting and achieving realistic yet high goals for pupils. Having been converted from a working farm, the school setting is uniquely therapeutic and calming, allowing pupils who have struggled in a mainstream setting to stabilise and refocus on their learning.
Over the past 3 years the school has gone from strength to strength, setting up a ‘therapeutic village’ complete with additional classrooms, and units filled with therapeutic equipment including sensory blankets and chill-out spaces. And now Access school has been awarded Centre of Excellence status for Story Massage!
This prestigious award is presented to schools, charities and organisations where at least four members of staff are trained in the Story Massage Programme and have been using it for over 12-months. Centres of Excellence show remarkable commitment and enthusiasm for delivering the benefits of the programme with care and respect for every individual.
This is another well-earned feather in the cap of Access School which has a blossoming reputation in the West Midlands. The waiting list for places at this first-class school is growing by the day and with plans to expand its foundations, head teacher Sarah Earing looks forward to welcoming more pupils very soon.
Since her appointment, Sarah has improved the school considerably. There is a clear sense of direction, staff have very positive views about the leadership and management of the school and effective teamwork has secured improvements quickly.
Watch this space for more developments soon! You can also check out their prospectus.
