We are delighted to announce that Ofsted have rated Access School as a ‘good’ school following a full inspection. The Inspection Report is a very fair reflection of the transformation process the school is going through and the journey staff, pupils and the organisation is on. The report highlights the great work that goes on day to day at the school whilst also keeping our minds focussed on what could be even better as we continue to develop our school in the coming years.
Sarah Whatling, Head Teacher at Access School reflected on the report:
“Having only been in post as Head Teacher since January 2016, to have Ofsted visit us in the second week of our new academic year was daunting but it was something I knew the team were ready for and we could not be happier with the result.”
“Over the past 12 months we have seen considerable change in both personnel, pupil numbers and the school site but all for the better I must add. The organisation has invested in us significantly and we feel fully supported. The staff team and I know we have and are doing a great job with our pupils. As an independent specialist provision, being judged on the common framework against maintained schools was always going to be a challenge but we did it and we did it well!”
“The staff team were amazing providing rafts of evidence and positivity throughout. The pupils as always were willing and able to talk honestly and openly about their experiences at school which filled us all with pride.”
“I feel so proud to be Head Teacher of this small but perfectly formed school and very proud to manage an amazingly talented team. Most of all I am proud of the difference we make to the lives of our young people who have previously had not so great experiences of school.”
“I very much look forward to the years before our next inspection watching our school grow and develop further becoming even more marvelous than it is now.”
