Access is Back!

September 6, 2016 | phil

Today is the first school day of the new academic year at our fabulous rural school in Shropshire…

The Access team achieved so much in the 2015-16 academic year that containing the excitement and expectations for the year ahead is in many ways the biggest challenge.

Over the summer whilst the team have had a well-earned break, significant investments and improvements have been made to the school, such as upgrades to the buildings, infrastructure, site layout and provision of broadband. Even the rabbits have come back to find ‘deluxe hutches!’

The old barn has been demolished (we could hear the cheers from Shropshire from as far away as Lancashire when that happened!) and the site has been transformed once again, in spite of the short space of time we had to complete.

The staff team at Access are raring to go. The team has been expanded and we offer a very warm welcome to Di our new School Secretary and Helen who joins us as a Learning Support Assistant. The team are looking forward to doing what matters most, educating the pupils in the best way possible in Access' unique rural setting.

Sarah Whatling, Head Teacher said, “It’s a tremendously exciting time at Access School. After all the progress and investment last academic year we’ve been itching to push on and now that the summer holidays are over we can do just that. The bonus is coming back to a school site that has been improved significantly once again over the summer holidays and the team and I can’t wait to get going again. Our thanks go to Andy Williamson and the contractors that completed the work in such a short window of opportunity.”
