We are a family-owned service working therapeutically with children in care since 1988.
Family Care was set up in May 1988 by Ged Williamson. Ged was a social worker who was becoming increasingly frustrated by the lack of suitable homes for the children he worked with, so he decided to open one.
Over 30 years later, Family Care has grown to offer residential, education and fostering services to local authorities in the North West and the West Midlands.
Although we're bigger than when Ged started, we retain that 'family feel' which makes us different from other agencies. After Ged's retirement, his two sons Andy and Phil Williamson took over and carry forward the values of Ged's legacy.
Common values, an extra sense of purpose & pride and a loyalty that keeps us together in hard times are all key features of our family-owned service. We work with a determination to build something that truly makes a difference to children and young people.

helping children and young people
From modest beginnings, we are now able to support almost 120 children across all of our services.
In 2003 we set up an Independent Fostering Agency. From our offices in Preston and Wolverhampton, we support a dedicated base of foster families who significantly improve the lives of the children & young people they work with.
All of our services are rated ‘Good’ or ‘Outstanding' by Ofsted.
