Training and Staff Development

Family Care Associates is committed to the development of our staff who we see as our greatest asset. Our College was founded in 1998 and is now accredited as an Assessment Centre for National Vocational Qualifications (NVQ) focusing on Care and Education.

All staff receive a comprehensive induction following a careful selection process. The Training Manager and the Human Resources Department work closely with the Registered Managers and Heads of Service to draw up the annual Training Programme. This comprehensive programme is delivered in a variety of ways best suited to the needs of adult learners. The College uses both internal and external trainers and has strong links with colleges and universities.

All staff are encouraged to take up training in NVQ levels 3 to 4 and selected staff are supported to work towards other qualifications such as the Degree in Social Work, whilst other key staff are supported on Therapeutic, IT and Management training.

The College works with other childcare organisations and can provide training to groups or individuals in a range of subjects including:

The College is able to co-ordinate student placements within the organisation.

Training - To External Organisations

Family Care Associates College is pleased to be a City and Guilds Approved Training Centre and as such we not only provide first class training for our own staff but also to external candidates.

We offer the most up to date awards in Level 3 NVQ Health and Social Care (Children and Young People) and Level 4 NVQ. Assessment is carried out in the work place and observed by a fully qualified assessor who will also offer personal support and mentoring.

We currently provide A1 Training (Vocational Assessor Award) for staff who may wish to further enhance their skills.

We were one of the first centres to be approved to deliver the new Registered Manager in Childcare Award. We offer an individual approach to this award with 1:1 mentoring, thus allowing candidates to progress at their own pace. All our assessors have undertaken this award for their own professional development so can offer expert guidance and support.

Family Care Associates College receives consistently high grades on their inspections from City and Guilds and is proud to offer a professional and personal service to all its candidates.
