It is relatively easy and absolutely possible to move from your current fostering agency or Local Authority to join Family Care. Just get in touch and we can talk you through the process.
What’s most important for you to remember is that all foster carers have the right to freedom of movement between fostering services in the UK, irrespective of whether you have a child or young person placed with you. These rights include financial protection. The agency you elect to transfer to must honour or better the rates you already receive.
Beware of agencies offering inducements for you to transfer to them. This is not a practice we adopt at Family Care. We believe that the team around children and foster carers, particularly the social work and support staff, should change as infrequently as possible which gives children continuity and makes success in foster care much more likely.
If you have a child/young person in placement
Give us a call.
The needs of the young person or young people you have in placement are of paramount importance. We will come to meet with you to understand your needs and their needs. Once we are certain Family Care will be a good fit for you, the next step will be for you to inform your current agency and Local Authority in writing.
A meeting will be convened to organise the transfer and we will attend this with you. From this point on, we will support you through the transfer process.
If you don’t have a child/young person in placement
There are two simple steps to the process:
- You will need to apply to foster with us
You will need to submit 28 days’ notice in writing to the agency or Local Authority that you are currently registered with.
